Read Across America & Spring Book Fair

Hello again!
I've come to the realization that I'm not too good at this blogging thing (keeping up with it, that is) but I'm so excited about Read Across America Day and the Spring Book Fair that I knew I couldn't pass up this post.
First of all, I got a GREAT idea from a fellow blogger, Cari (who is totally awesome, by the way), at The Centered School Library to ditch replace the predetermined Story Laboratory theme and go with a Dr. Seuss theme!  I was in the same boat as she was, and I just wasn't feeling the Laboratory theme.  Soooooo.....
Since I was already tossing this idea around in my brain & since my book fair starts a week after Read Across America Day, I thought I'd go for it!  I typed up this letter to send home to parents (with the book fair flyer) to let them know that our book fair was going to be a little Seuss-y (or a lot Seuss-y... I hope).

Then I took to Pinterest, searching for Seuss decorations and I was VERY overwhelmed to say the least!  There is so much great information/ideas out there but yet so little time.  After hours of searching, these ideas are my favorite!

#1 - Must Have Truffulas Trees - Thanks to Mrs. Lodge from Mrs. Lodge's Library, I think I will be able to make my own.  I promise to post pics as soon as I have them ready!  But for now, my inspiration... sooooo cute!

#2 - Must Have Photo Booth - I can't wait to post my own pics from my Seuss-y booth!

#3 - Must Have Teacher Participation - I sent an e-mail out asking each homeroom teacher to decorate their classroom door like a Dr. Seuss book.  I think this will make our school super festive on Read Across America Day! I promise I will have pictures to follow!

Tomorrow is a busy day!  I'm headed to bed! :)

Reading is SNOW Much Fun

Hey Y'all!

I know I'm 18 days late but can you believe that it is JANUARY already!  This school year is really flying by!

Down here in Georgia, it hasn't really been feeling like January.  It has been mid 70's and 80's every day until yesterday.  Even though the weather man said the cool weather was coming, no one here believes the forecast until we experience it ourselves.  Georgia weather is so unpredictable! BUT yesterday, low and behold, winter decided to rear its ugly head!  Y'all may think I'm playing but our students have literally been wearing shorts and sundresses to school!  WOW!

So since the weather was WARM outside, I thought that I would add a little COOL weather on the inside.  Our January bulletin board features the precious Sam the Snowman and Sally the Snow Woman.  It also has book sleeves of many of their favorite books to read in the winter.
